What are wellness and spa and what are their differences?

The Wellness and Spa industries are seeing a growing trend year after year. The growing tendency of these markets comes as a result of a shift in the attitudes of the population, which is increasingly oriented towards improving health and quality of life, which is manifested, inter alia, through the use of the services of these centers. Wellness and Spa represent two different terms and businesses, although many often identify them. Are these differences minor and non-applicable or is it just the ignorance of individuals? Here are the differences between Wellness and SPA pleasure, as well as what Wellness is all about.

Wellness as a way of life

Wellness, as a lifestyle, represents the aspiration of every individual to achieve the perfect balance between mind and body. The term was first used by Dr. Halbert Dunna back in 1961. It emerges as a coin of two concepts, well-being and fitness, signifying a focus on maximizing the potential of individuals. Employees in this industry strive to teach their clients to think wellness, which means not only going to the wellness center a couple of times a month, but reaching a state where we will be able to do the things we want without any special effort. This primarily involves activities that influence the improvement of physical and mental personality, such as healthy eating, regular exercise, an active lifestyle, quality time with friends and family, etc.

In addition to these activities, visiting wellness centers is certainly one of the most important elements when it comes to the wellness lifestyle. The treatments provided by these centers, such as the Royal Wellness Center at the Hotel Kralj, are an easy and fast way to relax and recover. These places are the ideal environment to regenerate your body with the help of a hydro-massage pool, relax partial massage or a Finnish sauna. You must have wondered what it was like to be a part of the royal family, now you have the opportunity to experience it, for at least one weekend.

Spa as an oasis of relaxation

On the other hand, when it comes to the spa industry, the first association should be spa or mineral hot, given the origin of the term. Namely, the term spa is an abbreviation of “sanus per aquam” which in free translation means “water to health”. Recently, spas are becoming more and more popular in Europe as well as in Serbia. The spa, as a kind of oasis of relaxation, offers its visitors a full range of services starting with various cosmetic treatments, manicures, pedicures, body scrubs, chocolate treatment, seaweed, Dead Sea mud, etc. Which treatment you choose depends on your preferences and options . All activities take place in a relaxing and welcoming environment, with the support of friendly and professional staff.

Differences between wellness and spa centers

Although wellness and spa are different in principle, there are often situations where people identify with these two industries. Moreover, it is a very common practice today to open and develop these oases in common. In theory, this would mean merging different service offerings into one, but in practice this is often different. Namely, the owners of wellness and spa centers often do not know under what name and form to run their business, so we are faced with a whole range of services, treatments and ambiences. It is therefore not surprising that there is a dilemma among individuals when it comes to these two industries. In order to solve the same, we would single out the following as essential differences:

The wellness center bases its business on (medical) treatments, while the spa is a place for relaxation;
Wellness offers services primarily focused on different types of massages, while the spa's range of services includes beauty and body care services;
In certain circles, wellness is defined as the necessity of a spa as a luxury. With that in mind, wellness rates are generally lower than spa prices.

Basically wellness centers are focused on solving the center of the problem and metaphorically we can compare them with a mechanical shop. They repair your vehicle, prevent it from breaking down again, and learning how to store and maintain it. Only the vehicle in this case is your body, soul and mind. So from time to time, treat yourself and your loved ones with some royal treatment, because you know what they say, in a healthy body a healthy spirit!
